Excel document as a back end for a form in WO
Friday 28. January 2011 kl. 00:05
I could write a long article about this, but it's late, so you only get bullets.
- I like to make web forms, but doing mathematics/calculation in Java is… not fun.
- Spreadsheets allow the simple to make complex calculations.
- Most people know how to use Excel.
- So it seems obvious one should use Excel documents as a back end for web forms.
- So I did, and here's an example WebObjects project, so you can too (using POI).
Note that using this technique takes exactly one line of code in your WOComponent's java-file. And that's why WO rocks.
Justice

A note to the neighbor that keeps stealing my laundry detergent: Yesterday I put hydrochloric acid in the washing machine and potassium permanganate in the laundry detergent box. The next time you'll attempt to use my "detergent", the compounds will mix to form chlorine gas that will burn your eyes and melt your lungs, killing you slowly and painfully. My lawyers inform me that legally, this constitutes "murder" - I call it "justice".
